At Mapleridge Children & Adult Dentistry, our mission is to help our patients achieve world-class smiles through a comfortable, convenient treatment process. As a leading family dentist serving the Liverpool,NY area, we’re proud to offer a variety of emergency, cosmetic, and pediatric dental treatments, and we strive to maintain a positive office environment so every visit is pleasant. We understand it can be terrifying to go to the dentist, no matter what your age. For this reason, Mapleridge Children & Adult Dentistry is happy to provide our patients with nitrous oxide sedation dentistry.
Nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas, acts as a mild sedative. When administered by a highly trained professional, nitrous oxide can help a patient relax and stay comfortable during a dental appointment, easing feelings of fear or anxiety that may otherwise be unbearable. Nitrous oxide is a very well-tolerated, non-addictive, easily reversible solution for anxiety in dental patients, and the American Dental Association recommends it as a safe and effective method for sedation dentistry.
Nitrous oxide provides a very mild sedative effect. Patients may feel giggly, lightheaded, relaxed, or calm. You will remain fully conscious and responsive throughout the procedure. We administer nitrous oxide through a facemask and can adjust the potency of the sedative to suit your individual requirements. After performing the dental treatment, we simply remove the mask, and the patient returns to normal shortly after breathing regular air. After the procedure, the patient will be fully conscious and cognitively normal, as nitrous oxide produces no lasting effects.
If you or your child get particularly anxious or fearful about going to the dentist’s office, nitrous oxide can be a practical solution to make the treatment process easier and more comfortable. With years of experience providing sedation dentistry to patients of all ages, Dr. Saini and our team of dental specialists are experts in the use of nitrous oxide for dentistry.
